Parents’ smartphone addiction linked to children’s overuse of the devices

Key clinical point: Smartphone addiction is associated with parenting stress and greater use among the children.

Major finding: Among parents with a smartphone addiction, 22% reported that their children spent more than 2 hours a day on their smartphones, compared with 4% of parents without a smartphone addiction (P = .012).

Study details: The findings are based on analysis of surveys from 355 parents at an urban academic pediatric hospital clinic.
