Seropositivity in RA linked with doubled pneumonia incidence

Key clinical point: Seropositive RA patients, particularly those with antibodies to rheumatoid factor, had a higher pneumonia incidence.

Major finding: After adjustments, the pneumonia incidence among seropositive RA patients was twice the rate seen with seronegatives.

Study details: A retrospective study of 4,110 patients with RA in a single U.S. medical system.
