Study compares pulse vs. continuous therapy for dermatophyte toenail onychomycosis
Key clinical point: In clinical practice, neither continuous nor pulse therapy for dermatophyte toenail onychomycosis is necessarily better.
Major finding: Compared with placebo, the most successful treatments were continuous terbinafine 250 mg daily for 24 weeks (risk ratio, 11.0) and continuous terbinafine 250 mg daily for 16 weeks (risk ratio, 8.90).
Study details: A network meta-analysis of 20 studies involving 4,205 patients.
