Preschoolers with higher BMI have elevated risk for fracture
Key clinical point: Interventions to treat obesity in young children could prevent fractures later in childhood.
Major finding: Cumulative incidence of any type of childhood fracture for underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obese children, was 9.20%, 10.06%, 11.28%, and 13.05% respectively.
Study details: A longitudinal cohort study of 466,997 children in Spain.
