More Sleep Can Help Youth Manage T1DM
Key clinical point: Less sleep for youths with type 1 diabetes mellitus was associated with worse diabetes management and glycemic control.
Major finding: Per mediation analysis, for every additional hour of sleep, HbA1c was reduced by 0.33% and SMBG frequency went up by 0.88.
Study details: A study of 111 children between the ages of 10 and 16 with type 1 diabetes mellitus who wore wrist actigraphs to objectively measure sleep.
