Inflammation Diminishes Quality of Life in NAFLD, Not Fibrosis
Key clinical point: A variety of demographic and disease-related factors contribute to poorer quality of life in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, most notably lobular inflammation.
Major finding: Multivariate analysis revealed an association between health-related quality of life and hepatic inflammation (P less than .05), but not fibrosis (P = .47).
Study details: A prospective quality of life study involving 304 patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Disclosures: The study was funded by H2020. The investigators reported no conflicts of interest.
