Early hypertensive disorders in pregnancy linked to obesity

Key clinical point: Rising obesity increases the chances of early-onset hypertensive disorders in pregnant women, as has already been established for late-onset hypertensive disorders.

Major finding: The adjusted risk ratio for early-onset hypertension ranged from 1.13 to 2.18 with increasing levels of obesity.

Study details: A retrospective analysis of over 14 million singleton births drawn from U.S. Vital Statistics.
