Singleton Birth Weight by Gestational Age

Study establishes IVF reference standards

Intrauterine growth is not reduced in in vitro fertilization (IVF) singleton births, according to a study of 93,443 singleton IVF births, which found birth weight percentiles per completed week of gestation of IVF and US singletons to be approximately equal from 31 to 41 completed weeks. The study looked at birth weight by completed weeks of gestation, and found:

• From 31 to 41 weeks of gestation, 10th, 50th, and 90th birth weight percentile values of IVF singletons were comparable to recently published birth weight percentile values of US singletons.

• At 40 completes weeks of gestation, 10th, 50th, and 90th birth weight percentiles of all IVF singletons were 3,078, 3,506, and 4,053 grams, compared to corresponding 3,005, 3,499, and 4,057 grams of US singletons.

• The 10th, 50th, and 90th birth weight percentiles values for female and male IVF singletons were comparable to US female and male singletons.
