Endarterectomy and Stenting Have Similar Efficacy in Carotid Stenosis

Key clinical point: Short- and long-term results of carotid stenting and carotid endarterectomy are similar.

Major finding: The rate of primary endpoint events was 5.3% in the stenting arm and 5.1% in the endarterectomy arm.

Study details: A pooled analysis of 2,544 patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis randomized to carotid endarterectomy or carotid artery stenting.
