Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis Risk High Among Cerebral Palsy Patients
Key clinical point: Patients with cerebral palsy are at increased risk for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, but not for inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases.
Major finding: Adults with cerebral palsy had increased risks of osteoporosis (adjusted HR, 6.19; 95% CI, 3.37-11.39; P < .001) and osteoarthritis (adjusted HR, 1.54; 95% CI, 1.17-2.02, P <.001).
Study details: A population-based, cohort study of 1,705 adults with cerebral palsy matched with 5,115 adults without cerebral palsy.
