Antiepileptic Drugs May Not Independently Impair Cognition
Key clinical point: Antiepileptic drug therapy is not associated with impairments in objective or subjective cognitive function above other clinically relevant factors.
Major finding: Increasing seizure frequency was associated with objective cognitive dysfunction, and depression was associated with subjective cognitive impairment.
Study details: A cross-sectional analysis of 331 prospectively enrolled patients who were admitted to a video EEG monitoring unit.
