Vigilance safely keeps AFib patients off anticoagulants post ablation
Key clinical point: A program of heightened, regular surveillance has allowed selected atrial fibrillation patients who are arrhythmia free following catheter ablation to stop anticoagulation treatment.
Major finding: During 576 patient-years of follow-up, no patients had a cerebrovascular event related to atrial arrhythmia.
Study details: Review of prospectively collected data from 190 patients who participated at a single U.S. center.
