Refractory RA responds to vagus nerve stimulation

Key clinical point: Vagus nerve stimulation is an investigational approach showing promise in refractory RA.

Major finding: Five out of 10 patients showed improvements in disease activity; two achieved remission.

Study details: A 12-week, “first in-human” pilot study of an investigational, surgically implanted neurostimulator in 14 patients with refractory RA.
