Rheumatoid arthritis treatment less aggressive, not less favorable in older adults

Key clinical point: Initial intensive RA therapy is less likely in older patients, but are seen sooner than their younger counterparts.

Major finding: Patients aged 75 years or older were 15% more likely than those aged younger than 65 years to be first seen within 10 months (P = .02).

Study details: A group of 1,131 patients with newly diagnosed RA recruited into the Early RA Network (ERAN) cohort between 2002 and 2014.
