Most authors of endoscopy practice guidelines have undisclosed financial conflicts
Key clinical point: Authors of endoscopy clinical practice guidelines (CPG) received many more payments from industry than they disclosed.
Major finding: Among 581 authors of 38 CPGs, 127 authors disclosed conflicts; a federal database search found that 452 of these authors had reported payments that represented conflicts.
Study details: Retrospective review of CPG authors’ reported disclosures, and manual reconciliation with the Open Payments database maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid.
