Panniculitis-Like T-Cell Lymphoma Survival Analysis

Clin Lymphoma Myeloma Leuk; ePub 2016 May 4; Bhatt, et al

People with subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) are more likely to be younger, females, and diagnosed at an early stage, when compared to those with panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), according to a study involving more than 3,400 individuals.

Investigators looked at survival of participants with SPTCL (n=118) and PTCL, not otherwise specified (n=3,296). Among the results:

• The median age of patients with SPTCL was 47, vs 62 for PTCL.

• Women comprised more than two-thirds of the SPTCL group, vs 40% in the PTCL contingent.

• 5-year actuarial-, relative-, and cause-specific survival for SPTCL was 40%, 57%, and 64%, respectively.

• 5-year overall survival of patients with SPTCL was 57%, vs 40% for those with PTCL.

• Patients with SPTCL were 46% more likely to die than those with PTCL.

• Advanced age and diagnosis before the year 2008 predicted lower overall survival in those with SPTCL.
