Number of sexual partners linked to cancer risk
Key clinical point: Lifetime number of sexual partners may be an important risk factor for developing cancer in older adults.
Major finding: Compared with having 0-1 sexual partners, a lifetime history of 10 or more sexual partners was associated with a greater risk of reported cancer in both men (OR, 1.69) and women (OR, 1.91).
Study details: An exploratory analysis of data for 5,722 older adults from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing.
