Increased Vitamin D Levels May Decrease Prostate Cancer Mortality
Key clinical point: Current research supports the role of vitamin D in reducing the incidence of and death from various cancers including prostate cancer.
Major finding: Higher concentrations of 25 (OH) D were associated with reduced mortality rates, but increased incidence rates of prostate cancer in a review that included ecological, observational, and open-label studies, as well as randomized, controlled trials.
