Signs of COPD detected among smokers under 50 years

Key clinical point: Earlier detection of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease could guide treatment, but the data on early COPD in nonsmokers would be helpful.

Major finding: 15% of smokers under age 50 years have signs of COPD.

Study details: Danish population cohort (n = 105,630).
