Ear Lobe Rejuvenation Using Fat Augmentation

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open; 2016 Jan; Hammoudeh, et al

People undergoing autologous fat transfer to their ear lobes during rhytidectomy had more voluminous lobes 1 year postop, according to a retrospective review of 65 individuals/130 ears.

A group that did not receive autologous fat transfer served as a control group, and the remainder formed the treatment group. Preop and postop photos were independently reviewed using the following grading scale: concave = 0, flat = 1, convex = 2, and round = 3.

Among the results:

• The average grading score in the control group was 1.20 preop and 1.22 postop.

• The scores in the treatment group were 0.98 preop and 2.00 postop.
