Intensive cognitive training may be needed for memory gains in MS

Key clinical point: Compared with patients with other forms of hippocampal memory loss, patients with MS saw a more modest treatment effect with most cognitive and exercise strategies.

Major finding: The standardized mean difference for cognitive interventions for patients with MS was 0.34.

Study details: Systematic review and meta-analysis of studies of cognitive interventions for healthy aging, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and MS.
