The Quiet Revolution of Mobile Health Applications

At the end of a year, the patients with the CareSpeak application had better medication adherence, more stable target blood levels of medicine, and a lower number of organ rejections (2 rejections), compared with the group 12 months prior (12 rejections). Applications for juvenile diabetes and mental health disorders are also being developed.

The Bottom Line

Wireless communication has become a ubiquitous part of life in developed and underdeveloped countries alike. While most of us are concentrating on getting through the day with our new EHRs, a number of innovative companies are quietly laying the groundwork for what may be the next transformative solution to address health care needs – delivering care in places never before possible through the use of a technology that’s already in place.
