ART traces in donor samples show risk to blood supply

Key clinical point: Donor centers must be aware that some HIV-negative donors may pose risk of HIV breakthrough infections.

Major finding: Of 1494 samples from HIV-negative donors, 0.6% tested positive for pre-exposure prophylaxis drugs.

Study details: Study of blood samples from 299 HIV-positive attempted blood donors and 300 infection-negative donors.
