Hand deformity happens early in children with dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa
Key clinical point: Hand contracture is a consequence of recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) that can be relieved by surgery, but not for long.
Major finding: By age 12, all study participants had moderate to severe hand deformity with reduced finger flexion, thumb adduction, reduced web spaces.
Study details: A retrospective case review of 24 children who attended a specialist pediatric EB center in the United Kingdom between 2010 and 2019.
